Celebrate Mofongo Day in Style!

Featured chefs include National Mofongo Day Founder Jose Mendin of Pubbelly and Cesar Zapata of Phuc Yea, both from Miami; Xavier Pacheco of Bacoa & Los Guapos in Puerto Rico, Fernando Desa of Goya Foods in New Jersey, Justin Sutherland of Handsome Hog in Minnesota, and three chefs from Atlanta — Andre Gomez of Jose Sucio, Julio Delgado of Fogón and Lions, Santiago Gomez of Palo Santo, and Host Chef Hector Santiago of El Super Pan. Chefs will be serving various mofongos, ranging from responsibly raised shrimp to chicken and beef, with a core of chefs spotlighting family-farmed pork from True Story Heritage Breeds.

The event is all-inclusive meaning guests will enjoy endless food and beverage creations from sponsors of the event including Goya Foods, Jim Beam, Bacardi 8 Reserva and Ribera y Rueda, Spain’s most prestigious regions for red and white wine.

“National Mofongo Day is a culinary voyage that marries the robust flavors of Mofongo with the culinary artistry of distinguished chefs, immersive cocktail journeys, and the finest Spanish wines,” said Host Chef Hector Santiago. “It’s going to be quite the experience for people who love food.”

A percentage of ticket sales (10%) will support Ser Familia, an Atlanta nonprofit that provides much-needed mental health services to the Hispanic community.

Event Hosts & Talent

How is Mofongo Served?

Mofongo is served with any choice of protein or vegetable. In Africa, it is enjoyed with a bowl of soup or stew; while in Puerto Rico, the dish is accompanied by shrimp, chicken broth, or sofrito made from vegetables and herbs

Who makes the best Mofongo?

There is still an ongoing war between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic; both countries claim they invented the dish. But now, mofongo is made and is available in many countries across the globe; but according to some food experts, the best mofongo in the world is made in the United States.
