Testimonials

Our heartfelt thanks to Karkinos Healthcare for hand holding my brother Dr. Jose Joseph from day one of his diagnosis through the path of recovery. The outstanding services by the senior oncologist, who is a true doctor in spirit and action, filled with compassion, will be thankfully remembered by our family beyond time. The remarkable service provided by the Command Center team at Karkinos, from the first visit until now, is unparalleled. The guidance at every step, facilitation, and the mental strength she provided to us makes us feel speechless and beyond words. Thank you, Team Karkinos.

Sister of a cancer patient treated at Karkinos Healthcare

I referred one of my patients to Karkinos Healthcare. The patient travelled from Muscat to India. I was quite aware that Sudheendra Hospital has a good team of surgeons and support staff. From the beginning of the treatment my patient was well taken care of by Karkinos’ team, who also coordinated very well between me and the surgeons. The patient was very pleased with the service provided by team Karkinos. A special thanks to the senior oncologists at Karkinos. I have no words to express my happiness as my patient got the best care under your guidance. After a successful surgery the patient has returned to Muscat and I will coordinate with the patient to monitor the progress. I intend to accompany the patient from the next case onwards. ???????.

Dr. Krishnakumar MG

Department of Dental and Maxillofacial surgery Badr Alsamaa Hospital, Alkhoud, Muscat

I underwent hemithyroidectomy surgery on 6th April 2022 at Sree Sudheendra Medical Mission Hospital, which was led by Karkinos’ senior cancer surgeon and his team. It was a well-performed surgery. I thank everyone for the very good care and support provided throughout my journey to recovery. I also thank the Command Center staff at Karkinos Healthcare for their guidance and updates, which were very helpful.

Cancer patient treated at Karkinos Healthcare

I reached out to Karkinos Healthcare for my mother. My mother had uterine bleeding and was diagnosed with first stage cancer. After my mother’s surgery, I went to Karkinos Healthcare for a second opinion. A second biopsy suggested by the medical team of Karkinos Healthcare at Kerala was repeated free of cost. For treatment,  Brachytherapy was suggested by the medical team. The Command Centre executives helped us through the patient navigation and treatment part. My mother’s radiation was completed at Aster Medicity, Ernakulam in coordination with Karkinos Healthcare. Also, for choosing Karkinos Healthcare, Radiotherapy was provided to us at discounted rates. We are contented by the services offered by Karkinos Healthcare.

Relative of cancer patient

I was very scared of radiation and feared undergoing it. Experienced oncologists at Karkinos Healthcare counselled me and suggested to undergo radiation without any fear. Thanks to the support & care from Karkinos Healthcare, I was able to complete radiation therapy without any hindrance. The Command Centre supported and navigated me through the treatment protocol. Thanks to team Karkinos, I received fine hospitality & good care. This helped me to overcome my radiation fear. Without any complications, I completed advanced technology-based radiation at Aster Medcity, Ernakulam. I am thankful to Karkinos Team for continuous post treatment follow up and guidance. Now, I am visiting CMS Karkinos Thodupuzha Centre for continuous follow up.

Female cancer patient treated at Karkinos Healthcare

One year ago, I was advised to consult for my thyroid issues. I underwent a scan based on the doctor’s advice. Papillary carcinoma was suspected. With a 6 months gap I had to do 2 FNAC , the result was negative and there were no symptoms. Financial constraints prevented me from undergoing the surgery. After  a brief observation time I was referred to consult a team of experienced oncologists at the CMS-Karkinos Cancer Center. I was advised to go for an immediate surgery. Biopsy result was positive for cancer. Although there were no symptoms , because of the trust I had and convinced about the oncologist’s experience I agreed to undergo the surgery. Post the surgery, I have not experienced pain because the surgery was performed with excellent efficiency. I am also happy with the post surgery follow-up  done by the Karkinos Command Center team and their service offerings. I am satisfied with the service from Karkinos Healthcare.

Cancer Survivor treated at Karkinos Healthcare

I began receiving treatment at Sree Sudheendra Hospital as a result of the care we received at the Ernakulam Medical Camp.” Oncologists at Karkinos Healthcare assured me of assistance with procedures and their costs through the MLA and Janaid Rahman Sir, who understood our financial difficulties and made it possible to perform the operation at a reduced cost. The nurses and doctors at the hospital were excellent. There, we received adequate care. We were transferred to Ernakulam Hospital for radiation and chemotherapy.

Through Karkinos we received good advice. The Command Center executives frequently called us and enquired about health condition. For that we wish to express our gratitude. We also got to share the knowledge, we received from Karkinos regarding cancer care, with other cancer patients. Due to proper diet and timely medicine the patient had not suffered any major difficulties so far. All this was possible due to the helping hand provided by Karkinos. We hope Karkinos will always be by our side with their wonderful care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Cancer?

Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells anywhere in a body. These abnormal cells are termed cancer cells, malignant cells, or tumor cells. Many cancers and the abnormal cells that compose the cancer tissue are further identified by the name of the tissue that the abnormal cells originated from (for example, breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer). Cancer is not confined to humans; animals and other living organisms can get cancer. Below is a schematic that shows normal cell division and how when a cell is damaged or altered without repair to its system, the cell usually dies. Also shown is what occurs when such damaged or unrepaired cells do not die and become cancer cells and show uncontrolled division and growth – a mass of cancer cells develop. Frequently, cancer cells can break away from this original mass of cells, travel through the blood and lymph systems, and lodge in other organs where they can again repeat the uncontrolled growth cycle. This process of cancer cells leaving an area and growing in another body area is termed metastatic spread or metastasis. For example, if breast cancer cells spread to a bone, it means that the individual has metastatic breast cancer to bone. This is not the same as “bone cancer,” which would mean the cancer had started in the bone.

There are over 200 types of cancers; most can fit into the following categories according to the research:

  • Carcinoma: Cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs.
  • Sarcoma: Cancer that begins in bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissue.
  • Leukemia: Cancer that starts in blood-forming tissue such as the bone marrow and causes large numbers of abnormal blood cells to be produced and enter the blood.
  • Lymphoma and myeloma: Cancers that begin in the cells of the immune system.
  • Central nervous system cancers: Cancers that begin in the tissues of the brain and spinal cord.
Cancer Prevention

How does cancer start?

Your body is made up of many different types of cells. Under normal conditions, cells grow, divide, become old, and die. Then, in most cases, they’re replaced by new cells. But sometimes cells mutate grow out of control, and form a mass, or tumor, instead of dying. Tumors can be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Cancerous tumors can attack and kill your body’s tissues. They can also spread to other parts of the body, causing new tumors to form there. This process is called metastasis and it represents cancer that has advanced to a late stage.
