Freelancer is excited to reveal the winners of the Who Let the Gas Out? NASA Tank Venting Challenge! The goal of the Competition was to develop a novel solution for the venting of ullage contents from a partially full propellant tank in space, aiming to minimize the loss of propellant. This ullage venting solution would help allow the adjustment of pressure in the receiving tank prior to, during, and/or after the liquid propellant transfer. Launched in October 2023 and completed in February 2024, the challenge offered a total prize pool of $80,000 USD for designs of a complete concept design of a tank venting solution. The winners of the Challenge are: First Place - Kevin M. Crosby and Alvaro Romero-Calvo from Kenosha, WI, USA; Atlanta, GA, USA ($30,000 USD). Winners announced! We are excited to share the talented and innovative winning submissions to our ELO2 Big Dipper Challenge. We received a number of high-quality entries, and through an in-depth judging process considering factors such as creativity, functionality, and scalability, we selected 10 winning entries. Winners will share in a $15,000 prize pool! The ELO₂ Consortium received grant funding from the Australian Government’s Moon to Mars Initiative. A portion of that funding was used to support this educational outreach program. We’d like to thank all of our participants for their amazing efforts. We trust that through their engagement in this challenge, valuable lessons were learnt, ideas ignited, and skills honed. We are excited to announce the launch of Phase 2 of the The National Institutes of Health TARGETED (Targeted Genome Editor Delivery) Challenge! The TARGETED Challenge seeks to elevate in vivo delivery technologies for genome editors, focusing on two Target Areas: Programmable Delivery System for Gene Editing and Crossing the Blood-Brain Barrier. In Phase 1, participants were asked to submit a proposal describing their solution and how it will address the requirements for one of the Target Areas.
